A toastmaster from Barkingside in Essex has spoken of his pride after winning a prestigious award for his efforts in making sure weddings and other simchas run smoothly.
Jonathan Waterman was named regional winner - for the East of England and London area - of the Wedding Industry Awards' 'Special Touch' prize for his work as a master of ceremonies and consultant.
The 41-year-old - who is a member of Ilford United Synagogue - not only acts as toastmaster at events but also offers event management services, tailoring different occasions to suit the celebrants.
He has officiated at weddings of all faiths, as well as acting as toastmaster for Barmitzvahs and other special days.
"I get so much satisfaction out of doing this job," Waterman told Something Jewish.
'I love working closely with the brides and grooms and families to ensure their day will be executed according to their wishes.
'I am very flexible in the way I work, and love going the extra mile and working outside of the box, in order that my clients, will have a smile On their face from beginning to end, and for a lifetime.'
Waterman has been a toastmaster for the past five years, stepping in to save a friend's wedding after things began going wrong. 'I feel in that time I have gone from strength to strength," he said of his career.
