Luxury hotel chain the Ritz-Carlton has made the move into Israel with a development of 82 luxury holiday apartments in Herzliya on the coast of Tev Aviv.

The Residences at the Ritz-Carlton, which is due to open next year, is located near Israel's 'silicon valley' as well as 10 minutes from the centre of Tel Aviv.

And the company is hoping to lure travellers keen on owning a holiday residence in the city - with owners offered the chance to rent their property out for six months of the year, and use it themselves for the rest of the year.

"We are very proud to have been instrumental in bringing The Ritz-Carlton to Herzliya," said Dalia Mendelmann-Zonnenfeld, general manager of Tidhar Development who are behind the development. "This is an international hotel and residential management company famous over the world for its high level of service and its luxurious lifestyle. I am confident that it will introduce a new standard of service in Israel."

The 82 rooms range from studio-style one room apartments through to one and two bedroom suites and penthouses - all with views of the Mediterranean.

Among the amenities included in the complex are a kosher restaurant, fitness centre and spa, rooftop swimming pool and an on-site shul.
