You only get one chance to make a first impression. Window boxes, entrance plants and patio pots make your home a more inviting place and also helps enhance value when letting or selling your property.
Window boxes can add extra privacy and gives extra security to your home. There is a window box for every season and occasion, from brightening up a basement to making a grand entrance. A patio pot, hanging basket or window box can make a world of difference to any property.
So what are smart window boxes wearing for the spring season?
Spring is a fun and fresh season. Bright yellow daffodils, sweet smelling hyacinths and red tulips as well as primroses and pansies in all colours of the rainbow. Add in the mix evergreens, such as buxus, conifers and bay trees and trim with plain or variegated ivy. If you want to add a touch of spice, try adding rosemary for a centre piece then surround with pansies or primroses and pop in a few daffodils or tulips. For a cool and contemporary look, go for an evergreen, such as a conifer or a buxus ball and surround with fragrant white or blue hyacinths which will bring a touch of elegance to any home.
For all you foodies out there ... why not indulge in an edible window box! This time of year there are you have rosemary, thyme, oregano and marjoram. Mix with evergreens and for some colour add spring flowers such as daffodils and tulips. Tasty, useful and decorative.
And for those of you who would rather have an indoor window box - why not try an indoor window box plant arrangement. Use a silver window box for a contemporary look or try a novelty pot such as a giant tea cup filled with plants or flowers to add a splash of colour to your home.
Caring for your plants
This time of year you need to water your pots once to twice a week. Make sure you keep the soil moist. Dead-head flowers to keep boxes looking neat. Trim evergreens if they grow unruly.
